www.dslrfilmnoob.com I've had the Tascam DR-40 around for awhile now. The lack of independent audio controls for each input channel has kept it from being used on several projects. But recently Tascam was kind enough to update the firmware, adding this feature to the list. You can download the updated firmware 1.10 here: tascam.com With this feature enabled the Tascam DR-40 is now much closer to being a low price competitor to the Zoom h4n. Sure it doesn't have all the features of the h4n, but if you just need a solid field recorder with xlr inputs and volume control the Tascam DR-40 should work fine. You can pick the Tascam DR-40 up for around $150 here: www.amazon.com Equipment used in this video: Canon 5d Mark III Canon t2i Canon 50mm f1.2 Sigma 24mm f1.8 Tascam DR-40 field recorder Sennheiser G2 wireless mic

www.dslrfilmnoob.com Many of the direct recording audio solutions for Canon DSLR Cameras involve large boxes and other random Items in order to get the audio into your camera. But once the audio is being recorded by your camera how do you know if it is any good? Well with the the help of a FiiO e5 headphone amplifier: www.amazon.com and a female RCA to 3.5mm adapter: www.amazon.com You can add audio monitoring functionality to your Canon DSLR Camera (when using a field monitor). I have two people to credit in this video. The first one is Christian Sundsdal. He is the one I mentioned who hooked the rode VideoMic and FiiO e5 together. You can find out more about him here: vimeo.com And the second is Youtube member Freyguyproductions. He sent in the question that got me started looking for this solution. You can find his blog here: Freyguyproductions.blogspot.com NOTE Remember this is for use with a field monitor. You need either an HDMI monitor or a little composite input monitor. See: www.dslrfilmnoob.com The screen on the camera goes black as soon as you plug the usb-composite adapter into your camera. If you aren't using a field monitor this probably isn't the way to go. Nikon users will still have to use the AE-L/AF-L button to control exposure in movie mode according to page 107 of the Nikon D5100 Reference Manual. Nikon does not allow control of the shutter speed or ISO in movie mode. With the release of the D7000 you would think that all future Nikon DSLR cameras would have manual video controls. I'm hoping they will have manual controls along with 60 fps in there upcoming models such as the D400, D800, and the D4. Don't take my word for it. Please go to Nikon's website and download the user manual for the D5100. At the bottom of page 108 it clearly states that Shutter Speed and ISO are not available during video recording. You can only adjust the exposure the camera chose by using exposure compensation. Reading is fundamental. www.gconphotolab.com http www.facebook.com

For the complete Fujifilm Finepix HS20 EXR review, go to www.infosyncworld.com Fujifilm is back at it again with a new flagship Super Zoom digital camera, and we got a chance to flog it all day and night. The Fujifilm Finepix HS20 EXR is the successor to last year's Finepix HS10—a camera that left us with conflicted emotions. The pomp and circumstance engulfing the new Fujifim Finepix HS20 EXR is its—yes, you guessed it—brand new 16-megapixel EXR CMOS sensor. That means we get Fujifilm's EXR shooting technology merged with a Backside Illuminated Sensor, and image and video quality becomes the hot topic of this review. Not only did Fujifilm cram a new sensor into the Finepix HS20 EXR, but the camera now offers SDXC card support, a higher 12800 ISO cap, and more pixels in the LCD. That's about it, compared to last year's Finepix HS10. Therefore, Fujifilm did not improve upon our suggestions riddled throughout the Finepix HS10 review, so many of our shooting-oriented gripes were relived yet a second time. The Fujifilm Finepix HS20 EXR is an odd duck, so take a leap into the pond, shall we?

www.dslrfilmnoob.com Note: This cable does not yet work with the t3i. One of the features that makes the Canon 5d Mark III look so attractive is the new audio monitoring port. Canon should have included this port long ago, but I guess there is no point in complaining now. I've covered other methods that allow you to add headphone monitoring to your camera (See link: youtu.be ), but the Sescom USB to 3.5mm female cable is probably the most elegant. A single cable with no adapters turns out to be a pretty handy method for monitoring audio. This adapter does require Magic lantern to work properly. Also note that the audio output of the Canon t2i maxes out at 6db, which is enough to drive a normal par of headphones but the output level isn't extremely loud. If you need more volume or don't want to adjust headphone levels using the menu, I still recommend adding a headphone amplifier like the Fiio E5 to the mix. My first memory of Vj'ing was playing the "Moire Image" program on my Apple IIe when I was 9 years old. That would be, um... coming up to 30 years ago :P The patterns made were simple... recently, when the above video was made, I found myself mesmerized in front of these shapes (with a few simple colors), much like I did when I was a kid. This is a more organic video warp since it seems to pulse on it's own accord... almost looking like a glitch but then becoming part of the living show. I wanted to start shooting video with the camera and needed some extra stability, so rather than spend a hell of a lot of money on a well over priced pro one I decided to try and build my own. This tutorial shows you how to properly calibrate your lenses using a menu feature of AF Fine-Tuning that is available in D300(s) / D700 / D3-Series ONLY. Only use AF Fine-Tuning if the lenses are focusing slightly off the target focusing area by back-focusing or front-focusing, resulting in soft (unsharp( images. AF Fine-Tuning will help you with that by correcting the focus shifting. Below are the direct links to download the Lens Sharpness Chart in PDF (Portable Document Format) and DOC (Microsoft Word Document). I got the chance to play around with the Hot Rod Cameras PL Mount Canon 7D at Birns and Sawyer, Hollywood. I ended up using Really Right Stuff Base Plates to prevent the camera from shifting with the Big Ass 25-250mm HR lens and Arri FF4 Follow Focus. I used a 7" Marshall HDMI monitor and it all worked just like a 35mm Motion Picture setup.
This is a quick into into getting great fireworks images. It assumes you have a basic knowledge of SLR photography and are comfortable with trying new skills. 2 quick things I wanted to add: 1. Set your focus to "infinity" and turn your lens switch to "off" and second, if you can get a remote, that would be even more helpful when shooting in "bulb". This is just one of many lessons from my upcoming DVD, Advanced Photography Techniques, while it is not available yet, you can get on the mailing list to be notified as soon as it is available: michaelthemaven.list-manage.com
The reason I like the T3I over the T2I is it has manual audio control flip out screen for better video viewing and wireless flash sync setup. It also has a help function wich explains what each function does on the camera. It would be very helpful for a new person to the dslr camera. Making of Canon L Series 500mm F4L IS USM. Part 1 of 3 in the production of expensive camera gear. L series is Canon's Premium lens line featuring fluorite lenses. IS refers to Image Stabilzation build into the lens, and USM refers to Ultrasonic Motor drive that makes focusing faster than older systems. Here is the Pro II Matte Box by Red Star. It is a professional looking matte box with a swing away design for you to access you DSLR easily without having to remove the whole matte box. The whole POINT of a matte box is to have the ability to use 4x4 or 4x5 filters that decreases the brightness of the sky, Usually filmmakers use neutral density filters it also defines and contrast your video as well. Cost -$268 Pros - Swing away -Light weight -sturdy construction -blocks unwanted lens flares -Affordable price -comes with accessories to fit your lens. Cons -has a little play -the tightening knob for the 15mm rail is hard to tighten. -The plastic can get scratched if not careful -Does not really affect video unless you use the filters.

***** [REVIEW BELOW] ***** Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO Lens for Nikon. I got this lens on the 30th of May 2009. In the box: Lens, Lens Hood, Pouch and Manual. Note that the filter was given free-of-charge in the store, so it's already been attached when I unboxed it. Specifications: 550g, magnification of 1:2, HyperSonicMotor, price: US$280 Handling Info: For Normal Use, the Manual Focus barrel does not turn that much. Macro can be used at 200mm-300mm only. The focus barrel fully extends in Macro mode. My REVIEW This lens is great for beginners and those who have a budget capon their lenses. Since the barrel moves physically outwards, you can tell that this is not a really professional and great lens. The pro lens are like 70-200, 24-75 Nikkor Lenses. They have an internal zooming and focusing element while this one doesn't. Also, the minimum aperture of this lens is F4, which is 2 stops above a recommendable fast F2.8 throughout. However, the advantage of this lens against those F2.8lenses is that this lens is light and therefore more mobile. It is also much cheaper than those pro lens which costs at least $1500. The only reason to buy this lens is that you are a kid, which is me, who depends on your parent's money to buy things, hence you do not dare waste too much money in case something goes wrong. This is a right point, because whe you grow up you can use your own money to buy the better 70-200mm lens. That means, if you are adult reading this, you should have ...

This video is a short tutorial, covering the basics and additional information about using a UV (or Ultraviolet / Haze) glass filters for digital and film SLR cameras. Enjoy! Oh, by the way, there are funny typos all over the place. It is Ultraviolet (UV), not Ultraviolent, hah. Update: We forgot about Bower, Canon, Fujiyama, Hitech, Kenko, Marumi, Polaroid, and Sigma. Unfortunately, they fall under not-recommended brands category. Thisvideo is available in High Definition (HD), hover the mouse above "360p" to extend out different video quality options, for HD (High Definition), click on 720p or 1080p. If you are having trouble watching the video smoothly, add this code, &fmt=22 to the end of this video's URL address then press Enter / Return to reload the video, it will play nicely in HD. www.facebook.com www.PhotographersOnUTube.com Photography Tutorials & Tips A detailed tutorial of "ISO" with picture samples. Important Notes: * The higher the ISO the more sensitive the sensor is going to be to light. * The lower the ISO the less sensitive the sensor is going to be to light. You use low ISO when shooting in daylight or with studio light. You use high ISO when there is not a lot of light available. The drawback of high ISO is graininess/noise in picture. Do post this on Facebook so others can also learn and don't forget to join the facebook fan page. www.facebook.com If this video has helped you, please THUMBS UP, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE. Focusing on the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 software this tutorial demonstrates the Ultra Widescreen workflow in the least amount of steps with maximum results. Jon Barrie brings his own experiences to this tutorial and as usual adds plenty of detail along the way going a step (or two) further than just showing how its done and explains the reasoning behind the methods. Enjoy.

I made this for my Comm Tech class about a month ago. The project was "Teach the class something your good at in photography or film" and people did some useless videos like "How to take a picture with a digital camera" or "How to make a movie in movie maker". This topic was kinda a joke between me and a friend but I somehow ended up actually doing it ahah. I think its pretty useful though, especially these days where kids knowing nothing about filming are getting vx1, mk1 setups and using them like crap. Hopefully if you never filmed skateboarding or just want to improve abit, this video will help you. Also send this to you friends who have cameras and havent seen this video yet. ALSO PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!!!!!! I have many more videos coming up in the next 2 weeks right after i finish my exams, should be legit. Thanks! www.FroKnowsPhoto.com There are a few different sensor sizes out there today. You have Full Frame and Cropped Sensors and now Four Thirds which I did not speak about in this video. On the Nikon end you have FX and DX. FX is a full frame sensor based on a 35mm size and DX is a cropped sensor based on a 24mm or APS size. There are advantages and perceived disadvantages to both. With Full Frame you get much better Hi-ISO capability but it is much more expensive. DX is a small sensor but makes your longer lenses act like they have more power. You multiply any lens you put on the camera by 1.5X to determine its 35mm equivalent. The downside is you need to purchase special ultra wide lenses to capture really wide angle images on DX. Another disadvantage to DX is you will not want to use those lenses on a Full Frame camera. So it becomes a dilemma on weather not to purchase a lot of DX lenses or not. On the Canon side you have three sensor sizes. Full Frame, 1.3x magnification in their sports cameras and APS-C which is 1.6x magnification. On the canon side. Any lens that you place on the APS-C sensor you will multiply by 1.6x to get the 35mm equivalent. As in the Nikon the larger the sensor the better the Hi-ISO capability the camera will be. Unlike Nikon Canon utilizes a 1.3x cropped sensor int heir high end sports camera. Sports photographers like having their longer glass have more reach. The cameras that have Full Frame sensors will be more expensive because they are more ...
