Strobist Tutorial: Dark Background Portrait (Low Key) - Off Camera Flash Photography

Strobist Tutorial: Dark Background Portrait (Low Key) - Off Camera Flash Photography Tube. Duration : 5.30 Mins.

This is an off camera flash / strobist tutorial of not to make the background of your image completely black using flashes, even though you are in a brightly lit area, or you do not have a black backdrop. This is called LOW KEY LIGHTING. The concept is simple. All you have to do is set your exposure so that your image is completely black. Do this without even touching the flash. Once you do this, you can add the flash in. Try to put the light close to your subject, and have a narrow beam to avoid spill into the background. In this video, I start off with one flash for a dramatic look, and add a second flash for more separation. The gear used in this video are: Canon 5D Mark II Canon EF 24-70 f2.8 L Yongnuo YN560 Speedlight x2 Yongnuo RF602 Wireless Flash Triggers Subscribe for more, thanks! Create a Black Background Behind Your Subject - Izzy Video Tutorial

www.izzyvideo.com. "How do you create a black background behind your subject?" This is a popular question people ask me. It's pretty common to see a black (or very dark background) behind a video subject for a lot of reasons 1) It's the easiest type of background to create. 2) It draws attention to the viewer without creating additional distractions. 3) It makes colors appear more vibrant. After you watch this video, you'll be able to create a black background in your videos too. Check out my website for more videos like this. www.izzyvideo.com
