Portrait Photography Session

Portrait Photography Session Video Clips. Duration : 14.30 Mins.

cazillo.com I've had many requests for this type of video, showing how I shoot a portrait session. There is a ton of info in this video plus some commentary which explains what I'm doing if its not 100% obvious. One thing that you may notice is that I don't spend a lot of time fiddling with my camera. I know it 110% and only worry about my exposure, histogram, composition and focus. Other things like white balance and picture controls could not be farther from my mind and I don't think about them. My goal is to create great photographs and that requires me to have a great rappor with the model or family keeping the thoughts and fun going. Here are your steps! Scout your location early or on another day with similar lighting conditions Keep a good conversation going with the model and 'look' at them making sure they are comfortable Learning to read someone's body language will dramatically improve your posing and portraits overall Know your equipment Use your histogram and screen (sparingly) Use a single focus point and put it on the model's face or eye Think about composition and what you want to create & ALWAYS fill the frame I usually recommend solid color clothing with no or minimal logos Shoot a few angles or crops of each scene so you can maximize sales potential (if you are selling images) So what questions do you have? Do you think you can do this? What's your favorite available light portrait?

Off-Camera Flash Photography with Nikon's CLS System

Off-Camera Flash Photography with Nikon's CLS System Tube. Duration : 5.77 Mins.

froknowsphoto.com This video is an introduction to using Nikon's built-in CLS (creative lighting system) to wirelessly trigger off-camera flashes. Many Nikon DSLR's have the capability to wirelessly command and control off-camera flashes. This system is very powerful in that you can use both TTL and manual control and somewhat limited because infared is line-of-sight and has a limited range. The amazing thing about this is that you can control the power output of several flashes in different groups directly by using the built-on, pop-up flash from your camera. In this video, I use a Nikon D700's built-on pop-up flash to control an off-camera Nikon SB800 flash thru a small softbox and another SB800 thru a shoot-thru umbrella. By going into the flash control settings on the camera and setting the camera's built-on flash to act as a commander, you can wirelessly control off-camera flashes directly from your camera. I touch understanding a bit about different lighting zones - Ambient light, Key Light and Fill Light. All important to understanding how to dial-in the right amount of light for flash photography. Night Photography Tutorial

Night Photography Tutorial Video Clips. Duration : 9.48 Mins.

Questions? Go here: www.youtube.com Tutorial on how to take nighttime photographs. FAQ Question: Why can't you use higher ISO sensitivities instead of ISO 100 or 200? Answer: Two reasons; 1) shutter speeds slower than 15s aren't always possible at higher sensitivities and 2) you'll get cleaner results at low sensitivities. Question: What about Self Timer? Answer: Self Timer will still cause camera shake unless you add a sandbag on top of your camera on the same axis with the tripod head. The sandbag will absorb the vibration, minimizing the chances of camera shake. Question: Why aren't ƒ/1.4 lenses recommended? Answer: ƒ/1.4 lenses are designed for using at large apertures no smaller than F/4. Exceeding F/4 will result in lens diffraction, which decreases the image quality. A lens that is capable of delivering clean results at low apertures is recommended in order to accomplish slow shutter speeds slower than 15s.
