Glidecam HD2000 Review
www.learningdslrvideo.com The opening sequence was shot on this Glidecam HD2000. These type of devices that fly your camera are not as easy as they look, they take practice and this is my first one so I have nothing to compare it to, so please take my review from the point of a true beginner. First off let's talk about price, the HD2000 is around $450 which kinda on the pricey side for hobbyist, however if you compare it to the Steadicam Merlin it is a steal, but on the other hand if you compare it to a Hague then it looks expensive again. I had some problems balancing my Glidecam so I contacted the manufacturer and Tom from Glidecam gave me a few pointers. They actually told me I have the wrong one for the T2i, they recommended the same one, the Glidecam HD1000 is about $100 cheaper. I am tall at 6'-3" when I try to go low to get at eye level with my girls the handle hits the bottom plate the camera sits on which ruins my low shots. I asked one of my visitors to my site Marc Wiblishauser from Vimeo what he does with his and he recommend rotating the handle, and that worked great for my low shots instead up inverting the whole unit which would time consuming. I found that flying this outside it much easier than trying this inside, the main reason is focus, you generally want most of your image to be in focus so you have to raise your F-stop to 8 or higher, and if you don't have much light inside for all the rooms you are passing through you need to up the ISO a ton. Canon 35mm f1.4 vs Sigma 30mm f1.4 head to head - DSLR FILM NOOB
www.dslrfilmnoob.com I often recommend the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as a good crop sensor camera lens for people on a budget. But how does it stack up against the Canon 35mm f1.4 lens. At around $1300 to $1400 new, the Canon 35mm f1.4 lens is a big investment, so much so, that I often recommend saving that money and buying 3 mid range primes instead. The Sigma 30mm f1.4 on the other hand runs about a 3rd the price at around $400. So is the price difference worth it? I think that depends on your mind set. The Canon 35mm f1.4 looked better (to me) in many of the shots as far as over all sharpness is concerned and the sigma 30mm f1.4 did have some slight vignetting in a few of the shots. But I guess the question remains, is the Canon 35mm f1.4 $900 better then the sigma 30mm f1.4? I think you will probably have to vote with your dollar. Take a look at the footage and decide which lens works best for your budget. Konova DSLR Slider Review
www.learningdslrvideo.com Before I start in on the review I want to tell you about my little DIY dolly because before I had it I thought it would be the answer to all my slider needs. Well it wasn't and I don't use it that often, there are two reasons, speed of setup and smooth surfaces. For me I like to move fast from slider move to slider move and using the dolly on a large long board is just not what I call fast for set up time. Also a board does not work well on a board unless it is really smooth, this works best on glass or like a Formica counter top. I tell you this because the Konova slider is much faster to setup, especially in many different configurations. Over the past couple of years a lot of sliders made for DSLR's have come out and a lot of them are really expensive and out of the reach of many amateurs. Basically there are two types of sliders, the less expensive friction sliders that use something smooth like Teflon, and the more expensive roller bearing type that can be very expensive. That is where this Konova slider is different, it has roller bearings and it is around the same price as the friction based sliders.

CVP review of Sony PMW-F3 35mm camcorder
For our test shoot we'd been granted access to the RAF museum at Cosford. We'd planned to spend a whole day in a bustling museum but thanks to the snowfall the museum was closed to the public and our access was reduced from a day to an hour (a big thanks to Pete Bunting for getting us in at all), so right at the moment when we needed to be taking our time to set up and review each shot carefully I was forced to adopt a very brisk ENG shooting style. Sony A33 vs Canon 550D/t2i (Video mode)
Welcome to this video test and comparison between the Sony A33, and the Canon 550D, which is also called Canon Rebel t2i. I have only compared the video modus in these two cameras and seen which one that is most suitable for film-making. it's quite obvious that these two cameras are ment for two different types of usage. Are you a beginner who wants a DSLR camera to film home videos, family videos, travel videos and so on, the Sony A33 is a very good chose. The only things I miss on this camera is the full manual exposure adjustment, a bit better microphone and a bigger range of lenses to chose from. The Canon 550D/t2i is a bit older, but has the same video quality. Because of all the manual adjustments you can do with this camera, it's a very good chose for film-makers. If this camera had autofocus and a built in stabilizer, it would be everyones dreamcamera. This will hopefully happen in a couple of years. I can't wait!
