JAG35 HDSLR Shoulder RIg - Preview

The system includes the popular JAG35 Cage as well as a dual-handle support system with shoulder pad, 3 lb counter weight and tons of flexibility. Over the next couple of weeks I will be using the Jag35 Shoulder Rig and writing my review based on in-the-field real-world use. For now I have created a preview video for those of who considering this new rig. You can also use (and purchase) the shoulder rig without the cage unit. While I never got around to demonstrating this in the video all you would have to do is mount the camera or quick-release plate directly to the should rig platform instead of mounting the cage. Nikon D7000 Hands-on preview

The Nikon D7000 is a dust- and moisture-sealed 16.2-megapixel DX-format DSLR camera with a 39-point AF system, 14-bit analogue-to-digital conversion, 6fps continuous shooting, dual memory card slots and Full HD video with full-time autofocus and manual exposure control. The new AF module includes 9 cross-type sensors in the central part of the frame. Photographers can also activate 3D tracking, which continuously follows moving subjects within the 39 AF points, highlighting the activated AF point in the viewfinder - which in turn has 100% frame coverage and 0.94x magnification. Also new is the 2016-pixel 3D Colour Matrix meter, which Nikon calls "groundbreaking". The Nikon D7000 has a native ISO range of 100-6400 that can be expanded to ISO 25600; another first in a Nikon DX camera. The video mode of the D7000 offers variable frame rates of 20, 24 or 30fps at 720p, and cinema-standard 24fps at the 1080p setting. In the US, the Nikon D7000 will be available from mid-October priced at $1199.95 for body only and $1499.95 for body and lens outfit that includes the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens. In the UK, the body-only price will be £1099.99, while the kit will cost £1299.99.

Nikon D3100 Preview

www.FroKnowsPhoto.com It is a huge day for Nikon Shooters and future DSLR camera owners. The announcement of the D3100 is a sign of things to come from Nikon. This will usher in a whole new crop (no pun intended) of sensors that should produce better quality photos and video. The D3100 will most likely be the first camera out of the gate with a D90 D300s and D700 replacements to follow. Let's look at the main features I am most interested in in the new D3100. The new CMOS sensor is a step forward over the CCD of the D3000. It should produce much better still images at all the different ISO settings. Keep in mind, higher ISO is in no way a replacement for using faster glass (F1.4,1.8 and 2.8 lenses) The new sensor also gives the D3100 the capability of recording full HD 1080 video at 24 frames a second. At lower quality settings you have the option to change the frame rate. The coolest most exciting addition for me is the ability to have continuous Autofocus during video recording. This means you will have an easier time when zooming and tracking a subject to hopefully get your focus right. A side note is that your internal microphone will pick up the sound of the focus motors when recording video. I feel that this will be a very very solid camera for capturing still images. The new sensor will certainly make this a better camera in higher ISO's. I do have a few concerns about this camera and they mostly fall on the video side of things.
